And then there was this news item late last week from CNN:

HEILIGENDAMM, Germany (AP) -- An upset stomach forced U.S. President George W. Bush to skip some meetings at an international summit on Friday, but he rejoined the gathering after several hours of bed rest.

"He's not 100 percent, but he felt well enough to return to the talks," White House counselor Dan Bartlett told reporters.

Oddly enough, the same day this piece was reported, many newspapers outside of the U.S. just happened to run the following picture

I hope it's non alcoholic

and the BBC ran this clip:

In case you're not inclined to cut and paste the link, are too busy or can't get your browser to work, the pictures show GW pouring and drinking a yellow liquid that has quite a head of foam on it. And I'm willing to bet it's not apple juice. I have no doubt his stomach was upset. Spending all night bent over a toilet after you've gotten too drunk to function will do that to you.

People, people, people, when are we going to put two and two together?

It's bad enough that we look the other way when he smacks us around for no good reason, must we also put up with his alcoholic rages, too?

Let's all stage an intervention and seek refuge at a shelter before it's too late.

From a man who feels if you aren't afraid, you just aren't paying attention--

P.S. My favorite relative asked why it's a big deal that he's drinking beer. As much as they might claim otherwise, admitted alcoholics like President Bush never recover from their addiction and have to stay off the sauce to avoid a relapse. Besides, one has to worry that if Bush is no longer worried about being caught drinking in public what other unacceptable actions might he feel are appropriate. Pardoning Scooter Libby? Imprisoning dissenters? Peeing in the G8 Punch bowl? Sleeping with Condoleeza and Barney? Now that's a picture I won't be able to get out of my head.
